Twenty-four character strengths — curiosity, fairness, humor, perseverance and twenty more — put in your own order. The result isn’t a score out of anything. It’s which of them lead in you.
Character strengths are the ways of being good at being a person that show up across cultures and across history. There are 24 of them here, and everybody has all 24. The list came from asking what human beings have consistently admired in each other, read across philosophy and religious traditions from several continents and several thousand years. What kept appearing came to 24.
The claim is not that these are the only good qualities, or that the number is exact. It is that these particular 24 keep turning up, and that people differ in which ones come most naturally to them.
This puts your own answers in order. It doesn’t compare you with anyone else, and none of the 24 is a better thing to have than the others. Go with your first reaction to each one rather than working it out — the whole list matters more than any single answer.
Describe yourself as you generally are now, not as you wish to be in the future. Describe yourself as you honestly see yourself, in relation to other people you know who are roughly your same age.
